They explored the challenges of finding the right job in the current market, emphasizing the importance of understanding company success, transparency, and alignment with personal skills and interests. The conversation also touched on mindset, the value of networking, and the differences between working in early-stage companies and larger corporations.
Improving Project Structure and CommunicationThe team discussed the need for a more comprehensive and detailed approach to their project, with a focus on the importance of understanding the customer's needs and pain points. They agreed on the necessity of a more structured and organized process, with clear roles and responsibilities assigned to each team member. The team also emphasized the importance of effective communication and collaboration to ensure the project's success. They ended the conversation with a commitment to work on these aspects and reconvene to review progress.
Navigating Job Market Challenges
Davidson and Chris discussed the challenges of finding the right job in the current market. Chris emphasized the importance of understanding the company's success, transparency, and alignment with one's skills and interests. He also highlighted the need to focus on the skills required for a job and the type of product and customers involved. Both agreed that the market has shifted, with more salespeople than opportunities, and that it's crucial to be choosy about the company one chooses to work for. They also discussed the challenges of selling technical products and the importance of finding a company that aligns with one's interests and skills.
Chris's Non-Traditional Sales Journey
Chris shared his non-traditional sales background, which started with a computer science degree and led to various roles in tech companies, including tech support, project management, and channel sales. He found his passion in tech sales around 2018. Chris emphasized the importance of understanding business problems and how technology can solve them. He also highlighted the value of staying non-technical in sales conversations. Chris joined a coaching program to enhance his sales skills and surround himself with top performers. He believes in investing in one's own success and sees the coaching program as a no-brainer. Davidson agreed with Chris's points and shared his own experiences with the coaching program.
Mindset and Personal Development ExperiencesChris and Davidson discussed their experiences with mindset and personal development. Chris shared how he was initially drawn to mindset due to the challenges he faced in maintaining a positive mindset, and how it helped him navigate various sales issues. Davidson, on the other hand, initially thought he didn't need mindset as he had already invested in personal development, but found it helped him focus on self-love and identity outside of his career. Both agreed that their experiences were different from what they initially expected, but ultimately beneficial.
Sales Challenges and Company CulturesChris and Davidson discussed the challenges and similarities faced by salespeople in both small and large companies. They agreed that while all companies have their unique problems, salespeople universally face the tasks of generating pipeline and closing deals. They also touched on the idea of a 'cult-like' atmosphere in big tech companies, with Chris arguing that their voluntary community is not a cult, but a network of like-minded individuals who have found success and support in their shared vision and goals.

Here is a bit more about Amber:
"If YOU are the primary thing standing in the way of your next success, we should talk.
I’m from a small, blue-collar town.
I grew up in poverty.
I was homeschooled until 7th grade.
And I also didn’t graduate from high school.
Fast-forward and I found myself managing a team, at a tech startup, in San Francisco (maybe you’ve heard of it…kind of an up-and-coming little town)
This wasn’t just any startup, it was the newest “unicorn” tech startup (which means the company grew to a billion-dollar valuation within 5 years).
I was surrounded by the most educated, smart, successful people I had ever been around.
I went to a state school. They went to Ivy League schools.
To say that I felt inferior is a big understatement.
I felt like the biggest Imposter.
Didn’t they know that I shouldn’t be there?
At any moment I was sure they were going to find out that I didn’t belong, and they would kick me out.
The primary reason any of us feels the Imposter Syndrome is because we feel like the odd one out.
We worry that people are going to discover that we aren’t “supposed to” be there.
I was able to overcome my Imposter Syndrome.
Someone asked me where I learned all about all of this, and I really think it was out of necessity.
Because I’ve seen the other side, I want desperately to help people who are in the position I was in.
I see now that it’s SO unnecessary to be held back by the Imposter Syndrome.
Don’t let it suck up one more ounce of your energy."

and a bit more about Davidson
Back in Jan 2017, I was a SDR making $78k a year, but I didn't have a lot of confidence in myself and I started hiring a coach and throughout the last 7 years, I hired 9 different coaches who helped me go from SDR to Strategic AE at world-class organizations such at TriNet, my journey was SMB AE at LinkedIn, MM AE at CoachHub, Ent AE at Udemy and then Sales Director at Fortune Magazine. Because of all of the support and investing $150k (traveling the world going to conferences to learn from millionaires and the most successful people in the world) into world-class training/development, I've been able to publish four books, grow my brand pretty significantly, started a men groups, publish 300 podcast episodes. I am offering you the opportunity to get promoted. Be super intentional about your career, navigate the politics, and build the confidence within yourself to reach all of your dreams and more.

Davidson discussed the importance of vulnerability, self-reflection, and setting achievable goals in personal and professional growth. He also emphasized the need for positive influences, self-compassion, and healthy boundaries in one's life, and the significance of redefining one's identity for personal growth. Lastly, he highlighted the value of understanding and managing one's emotions, seeking feedback for improvement, and building a strong community.
Embracing Vulnerability as a Superpower
Davidson discussed the importance of vulnerability as a superpower in one's personal and professional life. He shared ten steps to help individuals become more vulnerable, including reflecting on one's journey and celebrating accomplishments. Davidson also emphasized the need to be kinder to oneself, to identify and squash self-criticism, and to become one's own biggest cheerleader. He used his own experience of avoiding conflict and getting let go from a job as an example of how vulnerability and self-reflection could have led to a different outcome.
Embracing Self-Advocacy and Positive Thinking
Davidson emphasized the importance of standing up for oneself and not letting others decide one's future. He highlighted the need to silence the inner critic and focus on positive aspects of life. He suggested that individuals should take an inventory of their strengths and weaknesses, and not be overly self-critical. He also recommended seeking feedback from others, such as old coworkers, classmates, or teachers.
Setting Realistic Goals and Embracing Vulnerability
Davidson emphasized the importance of setting realistic, achievable goals and breaking them down into smaller steps. He suggested that individuals should reflect on whether their goals are driven by a desire to experience life or a need to prove oneself, as the former is likely to be more achievable and less confrontational. Davidson also stressed the value of embracing vulnerability and sharing openly about challenges, using the example of his own struggles as a content creator.
He concluded by advocating for surrounding oneself with positivity as a key step towards success.
Surrounding Yourself With Positive Influences and Self-Care
Davidson emphasized the importance of surrounding oneself with positive influences and setting healthy boundaries. He noted that the people we spend the most time with can greatly impact our lives, and encouraged choosing to spend time with individuals who inspire and uplift us. Davidson also highlighted the need for self-compassion, suggesting that we should treat ourselves with the same kindness and encouragement we would offer to a friend. He shared his own experience of needing to take a break to prioritize his well-being, and praised friends who have done the same.
Redefining Identity for Personal Growth
Davidson shared his insights on the importance of identity and self-perception. He emphasized that our attachment to our past identities can limit our potential and suggested that redefining our identity in a more empowering way can lead to personal growth. He also highlighted the power of visualization in achieving our goals, encouraging individuals to reflect on their happiest moments and use them as a source of motivation. He suggested creating a vision board as a tangible reminder of these moments.
Embracing Feedback for Personal Growth
Davidson emphasized the importance of understanding one's emotions and seeking feedback for personal growth. He highlighted that feedback, although sometimes difficult to hear, is crucial for improvement and should be sought from mentors, coaches, and people who inspire us.

How to Get 107k Views on LinkedIn Newsletter
In this article, you will learn why creating a LinkedIn Newsletter is beneficial, along with its pros and cons.
We'll also cover how to get started and feel comfortable sharing yourself in a professional environment like LinkedIn.
Why Create a LinkedIn Newsletter?
Lead Generation: A newsletter can drive traffic to your profile and increase leads.
Brand Building: Establish your personal or company brand as a thought leader.
Networking: Engage with your audience and build meaningful connections.
Legacy: Inspired by Alex Hormozi's approach of providing immense value for free, a newsletter can help you leave a lasting impact.
Pros and Cons
Pros: Direct communication with your audience Higher engagement compared to regular posts Ability to share long-form content Establishing authority in your niche
Cons: Requires consistent effort and time. Content creation can be challenging. Potential initial low engagement.
Getting Started
Define Your Purpose: Understand why you want to start a newsletter and what you aim to achieve.
For me, I want to help others build their professional brand because it has done so much for me in terms of my career.
I want to help others by breaking down the steps, especially if they are starting off and they aren't even sure what to write about.
Choose Your Niche: Select a specific area of expertise you are passionate about.
If you have many interests, like I do. Just pick one and start.
Create a Content Plan: Plan your content themes, frequency, and types of posts (e.g., articles, case studies, tips).
Just start writing; it doesn't have to be brilliant. If you find yourself comparing. Then Just STOP. Notice why you are feeling that way.
Are you feeling insecure because you think your boss will think you aren't focused on the right activities?
Having this self-awareness will help you realize whether you are making things up or if they are true.
Sharing Yourself on LinkedIn
Be Authentic: Share personal stories and experiences to connect with your audience.
You will build relationships organically. When I went on my 16-day Solo Road Trip to Canada, I stopped by and met some people that I'd never met in real life. We became friends through Social media, and we engaged with each other's content on the Asian American Experience.
Provide Value: Offer actionable insights and advice.
For instance, let's say you have 1,000 subscribers and you compare yourself to people who have 5,000 subscribers. You forget that most people don't have a LinkedIn, so your advice can be helpful, especially for those in the beginning stages.
Engage with Your Audience: Respond to comments and encourage discussions.
This is something I need to get better at. Especially if you have the habit of going down the rabbit hole of spending too much time on social media. I've found it much easier to make content recently than consume it all the time.
There needs to be a balance, so set what those boundaries for you.
Consistency: Post regularly to keep your audience engaged.
Make sure you have a game plan or a goal. Let's say my goal is to have 52 Newsletter Articles in 2024. It's good to have a long-term goal because you don't want to be so hard on yourself. Let's say you want to take a break during the summer. You can block off 3 hours and bang out 6 LinkedIn Newsletters, and be five weeks ahead of plan.

Mike has 25 years of experience in strategic sales, former #1 AE at DocuSign and Oracle. Ran the "Big Deal Team" at DocuSign which included the Executive Engagement Program and Advisory Board. Co-developed "The DocuSign Way" sales methodology.
Trained and coached 100s of sellers.

Ken Cavallon says:
"Mike is.... a
'Sales Scientist'... I have worked with many sales guys in my career, never one who approaches a deal from such a methodical, consistent, scientific way in which Mike does... I guess that's why he closes the big deals. I can't wait to work with Mike again some day!"
“Here are a few of the traits I witnessed while working with Mike at Oracle:
Robert O'Neill
Mike had the ability to set a course and take disciplined actions each day to achieve his goals.
Selling successfully requires courage; taking a risk where the odds may seem stacked against you; courage to make that extra call, to deal with the tough client or prospect, and to not let anything deter you. Mike sells successfully.
Mike knows right
from wrong - understands what is fair and just - This allows Mike to make the
wise informed decisons.
Mike has a habit of doing more that he is paid for.
Mike knows that selling is all about understanding what people do and helps them do it better.
Not matter how much the company supported the customers, Mike assumed full responsibility for the
customers well being.
I recommend Mike without reservation.”
Mike's meticulous attention to detail and high level
of product knowledge helped create the bedrock on which customer relationship were built, and his enthusiasm for the sales process would drive it to
completion. Mike was always informative and authoritative in his presentations, coming across as an expert in Talent Management. He has the rare ability to
understand a software product not just in terms of its value propositions, but at a technical level the way an engineer would.

Episode 170: Davidson Hang Podcast w/Adam Formal (Life Coach meets Psychologist)
Unveiling the Mind: A Dialogue Between a Psychologist and a Life Coach
Introduction to the Episode:
In this compelling episode, we bridge the worlds of clinical psychology and life coaching to explore the depths of the human psyche, strategies for coping with life's pressures, and the journey toward emotional wellness and leadership excellence. Featuring a seasoned clinical psychologist with a passion sparked by the intriguing world of abnormal psychology, and a life coach dedicated to empowering individuals, this dialogue offers a unique perspective on mental health, leadership, and personal growth.
Sparking the Interest in Psychology:
Our psychologist guest shares the moment their journey began during an undergrad class in Abnormal Psychology. Captivated by the professor's ability to make complex psychological concepts approachable and relatable, they embarked on a path to understanding and empathizing with the myriad experiences of the human condition. This segment delves into the power of education and curiosity in shaping one's career path.
Moments of Change:
A heartwarming story of helping a patient cope with the sweltering heat of a New York summer by assisting them in obtaining a free air conditioner exemplifies the tangible impact of psychological support. This story highlights the rewarding aspect of the profession, showcasing how small interventions can significantly enhance someone's quality of life.
Leadership Under Pressure:
The discussion shifts to the challenges high-performing executives and managers face, particularly the struggle with delegating tasks and relinquishing control. Our psychologist underscores the importance of recognizing one's strengths and limitations to maximize efficiency and foster a successful team dynamic. This insight is crucial for leaders learning to balance personal performance with empowering others.
Emotional Intelligence and Leadership Styles:
Exploring effective leadership styles, our guests discuss the significance of authenticity and emotional intelligence in inspiring and connecting with team members. They emphasize that a leader's ability to be genuine and understand the emotional landscape of their team can lead to deeper connections and more inspired performance.
Understanding Pathology and Coping:
Defining pathology as the point where an individual's coping mechanisms are overwhelmed by stress, our psychologist provides a relatable explanation of how varying levels of coping abilities impact people's experiences with stress and pressure. This segment offers a compassionate view of mental health struggles, emphasizing the relativity and uniqueness of each person's experience.
Emotions as Signals:
Highlighting the importance of tuning into one's emotions rather than tuning them out, our psychologist and life coach discuss how emotions serve as signals that guide us toward understanding our needs and finding solutions. This powerful message encourages listeners to see emotions as tools for introspection and growth.
Mindfulness and Self-Care:
Concluding the episode, our guests share practical advice for enhancing mindfulness and self-care. Recognizing triggers like anger, hunger, or fatigue, and engaging in practices such as meditation, yoga, or simply being present in the moment, are discussed as strategies to improve one's capacity for mindfulness and overall well-being.
Conclusion:
This episode serves as a bridge between the fields of psychology and life coaching, offering a rich dialogue on the complexities of the mind, the challenges of leadership, and the path to emotional wellness. By combining insights from both disciplines, our guests provide a comprehensive look at how understanding our minds and emotions can lead to a more fulfilling life.
