In this episode, we chatted with the lovely and talented Wendy Norris, one of the founders of the Texas Line of Duty Death Task Force. Her story is poignant and emotional; her husband, John Norris, died while on duty after fighting a structure fire with a volunteer department. So after helping hundreds of families with LODD for 25 years, she found herself on the other side of the table.

We had an important and enlightening conversation with Dena Ali, author of Hope out of Darkness: A Guide to First Responder Mental Wellness.Dena's experiences led her to explore health challenges faced by first responders. In her book, she provides practical methods for transforming adversity into wellness. Dena presents a roadmap for addressing issues such as trauma, organizational stress, and suicide prevention.In this episode, we talk with Dena about how the book came to be and how we can all be advocates for better mental wellness.
