This Thing of Mind

Refining The Message
As mentioned previously, these are primarily made for me to hone in on my message and delivery… Here’s another ;)

Avoidance & Fear
Although we tend to shift our behaviors based on who we’re surrounded by, we know when we’re taking it too far. There is a point within us that must always be honored.

Program Overview Part 2
For me and everyone to be clear as to what I'm putting together :)

Framing part 2
In a better explanation of framing… it’s all about using the mind in a way that makes us feel better.
We all want to feel goodness, so might as well use our minds to our advantage.

Framing
We have the ability to alter our “reality” by altering the “frame” through which we view our lives.
For example, you can use your imagination and pretend you’re actually your 80 year old self viewing your current surroundings… changes the way you see things, eh?

Be Yourself
We seem to live in a culture (at least in my experience) that we need to “make something of ourselves”… and this can often cause us to strive to be something we’re really not…
If we can simply BE ourselves, we will naturally unfold into something more and more, which will ultimately lead to a more complete and satisfying existence.

Re-Calibration
I've mentioned that all of this is to get clear as to the message I want to deliver... I needed a nice reset to make sure I'm remaining on the right path.
Cheers to clarity!

Growth IS Life
This one took a minute to find the right words, but the point was made.
We will forever want more, it’s an innate part of our existence.
If that’s the case, why not direct our Will in a way that wants more of the things that are beneficial to all?

Relaxation is Super Power
The ability to relax on command is a beautiful thing; it has benefits not only physically, but for mental clarity as well.
The more one practices relaxing, the easier it is to call on demand.

Emotional Intelligence
The ability to recognize our emotional state at any given point in time is quite valuable. Not only that, but to become acutely aware as to how they affect us (physically and our behaviors) puts us in a position of power over them. AND it puts us in a position to help others.

Defining Success
Many of us chase “success” without ever defining it. Societally, we’re given these ideas of what success is, yet we forget that success is ultimately an emotion.
We must first recognize what success FEELS like before we attempt to chase it outside of ourselves.

Personal Development
Another parallel between physical and mental health… The motive from which we perform our acts of development greatly determines its lasting effects AND the way in which it satisfies us.

Self Relationship
In considering the relationship we have with ourselves, it’s no different than that with another person… the more we deepen our relationship with another, the more we know them, understand them, feel comfortable communicating with them, etc.
Nearly every part of you is communicating with you at all times… how strong is that connection?

Bittersweet Freedom
As we deepen our internal practices, we find it more challenging to lie to ourselves… which at the outset may seem uncomfortable, but as we allow ourselves to step into the unknown, we experience our internal freedom.

It's Just You
As we begin to recognize the opposing thoughts we have within ourselves, it strangely liberates us as we realize… “Oh, it’s only me vs. me…”

Understanding "Health"
Warning, not the best delivery… but the point is to explain how health is far beyond physicality; ALL of us must experience health to be healthy.
Fun fact, “health” comes from a German word meaning “whole”

The Lifestyle of Mindfulness
Just as physical health is a lifestyle, the same is true for maintaining peace of mind and self control.
And just as my experience as a personal trainer demonstrated that there's a physical regime for everyone... There's also a "mental regime" for everyone...

Cycles of Mind
As we know, all of nature operates in cycles or seasons. Have you ever considered this to be true for yourself? (and primarily your psyche?)
Seeing these cycles within us gives us power to work with them, and ultimately, to be in control of them.

Psychological Polarities
When we can see there is a "law of opposites" in all things (especially psychologically), we can use this knowledge to more easily alter our states of mind.

Understanding Imagination
Understanding this thing called imagination is paramount to developing our mind and ourselves.

Program Overview #1
Here's an overview of the 4 week program I'm putting together. I'll create more of these to further clarify.

Starting Anew
I've been attempting to appeal to "everyone," which is causing me to heavily filter my words. This is a fresh explanation as to what I believe is valuable for those who have a desire to understand themselves (and what's going on here) better.

Mental Physical Exercises
As we become aware of our lack of control over our mind and body, the awareness alone inspires us to improve. Combining Mental and Physical exercises increases our dominion over ourselves.

My Unique Exposure to Yoga
Most people I’ve discussed yoga with understand it to be purely a form of physical exercise. Having years of practice in meditation prior to my exposure to yoga provided me with quite a different experience.

Defining (Emotional) Health
Emotional Health is predicated on good mental and physical health. We must recognize they are all interconnected.

The Power of Food Awareness
Being conscious of the food we eat is beneficial on so many levels.
Hear how it can impact your consciousness and physical health.

Mental Physical Health Connections
More on why physical health is important to our mental/spiritual/emotional development.

Physical Health in This
Beginning to understand how mindfulness ties into physical health.

The Purpose of Meditation
To understand one's mind, we must dive into the subject (and practice) of meditation.
Here's a bit of what meditation can do in life and it's ultimate purpose.

The Aim Here
Continuing to hone in on my message here ;)

The 3 Books That Got Me Started
Although much greater understanding has been accumulated over the years, these three books laid a strong foundation upon which everything else grew– In other words, these books expanded my mind in a way that allowed future learning and development to be more easily absorbed.
Enjoy!

Overview of This Thing of Mind
This lays an overview of what I intend to talk about and hopefully provide value on. It's a fairly broad range of sub-topics, but it primarily boils down to gaining a greater understanding of our mind so we can use it in a way that serves us and minimizes our mental and emotional suffering.
Cheers!
